La Rei Natura by Michelangelo Mammoliti Joins Italy’s Three-Star Elite
At the Michelin Guide Italy 2026 ceremony on 20 November 2025, La Rei Natura by Michelangelo Mammoliti was awarded a third star, the guide's highest honour. Set among the vineyards of Serralunga d'Alba in the heart of Piedmont's Langhe, the restaurant now stands among just fifteen three-star tables in the entire country.
The inspectors praised a gastronomic experience filled with exceptional craft and culinary poetry, a fitting description for a kitchen that draws deeply on the produce of its surroundings. Mammoliti, celebrated for an almost obsessive relationship with the garden and with vegetables in particular, has built a devoted following for cooking that is at once technically precise and unmistakably personal.
The promotion caps a remarkable rise for the chef, whose plates translate the rhythm of the seasons into refined, layered compositions. The setting adds to the sense of occasion: rolling rows of Nebbiolo vines, the same grapes that give the region its storied Barolo, frame the dining room and root every meal firmly in the Langhe.
Italy's 2026 selection now counts 394 starred restaurants, among them fifteen with three stars, thirty-eight with two and more than three hundred with one. For Piedmont, long celebrated for its truffles, its wines and its quiet gastronomic confidence, the new distinction is another marker of a region that continues to punch far above its weight.
