Rhodes W1 was a distinguished fine-dining establishment located in London, United Kingdom. Situated on the ground floor of the Cumberland Hotel at the corner of Bryanston Street and Great Cumberland Place, the restaurant officially opened its doors on 18 May 2007. It operated independently from the similarly named Rhodes W1 Brasserie, which was also housed within the same hotel before closing. The venue was brought to life through an interior design conceived by Kelly Hoppen, creating a refined setting for diners. After a successful run, the London restaurant ultimately closed its doors on 28 September 2012, though the culinary concept later reopened in Dubai.
The kitchen's culinary style focused on European cuisine, sharing conceptual similarities with Rhodes 24, while a sister venue in the hotel specialized in British fare. Although the celebrated chef promised to be present in the kitchen whenever possible, the day-to-day operations upon launch were led by head chef Brian Hughson. Hughson brought prior experience from working alongside the namesake chef at Rhodes in the Square during the late 1990s. The menu was designed to showcase a lighter, modern touch characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a mini-smorgasbord of flavors. Reviewers noted that while certain menu items carried supplementary charges that elevated the final bill, these additions made the venue well-suited for celebratory dining occasions.
Upon opening, the acclaimed restaurant quickly established its reputation within the capital's dining scene, earning praise for its flawless service. Critics highlighted that the experience demonstrated a refined evolution in culinary perfectionism, delivering a memorable gastronomic journey for guests. Following its tenure in the capital, the brand's legacy remains a notable chapter in London's culinary history.
